Poroshenko: Ukraine to briefly seize fire unilaterally
Ukraine will seize fire in the east of the country to let militants lay down arms or leave the country if they like.
Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko announced it on June 18, censor.net.ua reports.
"I have ordered to seize fire unilaterally. The President’s peaceful plan is expected to be supported by all participants of the events in Donets Basin. We do not have much time,” he claimed.
Poroshenko has promised an amnesty to everyone who will lay down arms if they have not committed heinous crimes. He has also offered a passage for disarmed Russian hirelings wishing to leave Ukraine.
The main point of the peaceful plan is adding changes to the Constitution that will result in deep decentralization of power, Poroshenko said. The plan includes 14 political steps that will be made public one of these days, he added.
