Possible mass executions site uncovered near Vitsebsk
Belarusian Popular Front activists informed the regional prosecutor, Investigation Committee and the police about the findings.
Mass graves have been found near the villages of Haisy and Drykolle. Peaceful citizens were killed there in Stalin’s time, local inhabitants told Radio Liberty.
Specialists need to find out whose remains have been found unburied in the forest. Vitsebsk BPF members Yan Dzyarzhautsau, Pyotr Sarapenya, Aleh Yemelyanau and Syarhei Kavalenka have sent appeals to the regional public prosecutor’s office, Investigation Committee and police. These structures must initiate a check-up because murder cases have no statute of limitations.
Party activists commemorated the people who died and were not buried there on November 12. They installed crosses near three big pits with remains. Uniate priest Zmitser held a service for the dad there.
