Pregnant woman cannot get assignment after graduation
An undergraduate of the journalism faculty has been suggested applying for a free diploma. The commission of the BSU journalism faculty refused to assign the pregnant undergraduate. The girl studied in Minsk Pedagogic University for five years at first and then she entered the BSU magistrates. When she came to get her assignment with a noticeable belly, members of the commission suggested that he should apply for a free diploma.
Others would be happy, But Kseniya (this is the mane of eth undergraduate who has not received her assignment) was embarrassed by the suggestion of the Minister of Information:
Kseniya: "Everyone has refused from me… Who needs us like that? I’d like to have a note in my work -book at least… To indicate that I have taken a maternity leave. So that it would count in the seniority…”
Kseniya’s friends are indignant at the situation:
"It is wrong! Not giving assignment to a pregnant woman is discrimination. They say to everyone – give birth to children! We need a demographic increase! They pay them something, give lax credits to buy a flat. And here – they do not give her a job…”
In fact, Kseniya did not bring any application with her. The commission could send her to one of the application the faculty had received. However, they took another decision.
Fifth-year students and undergraduates of the BSU journalism faculty were assigned on May 4. Students note that the attitude to their request was quite loyal this year. Some students managed to get jobs in independent mass media (like “Arguments and Facts”) and at commercial enterprises.
