Prospective opposition candidate detained by security agents
Yaraslau Bernikovich today was detained by KGB agents in the town of Hlybokaye, Vitsebsk region, Radio Svaboda reported.
Bernikovich, a deputy head of the Vitsebsk branch of the Party of the Belarusian Popular Front and an activist with For Freedom! movement, wants to run for a seat in the parliament. His nomination group has gathered nearly 4000 signatures just over one week.
