Putin arrives in Minsk (photo)
President Vladimir Putin arrives in Minsk to take part in the Summit of CIS Heads of State and the Interstate Council of Eurasian Economic Union.
During the summit, Armenia is expected to join the Eurasian Economic Union Treaty that was signed by Belarus, Kazakhstan and Russian in May 2014.
The presidents of other CIS member states arrived in Minsk yesterday. Ukraine's President Petro Poroshenko will not be in the Belarusian capital. In a telephone conversation yesterday, he asked Aliaksandr Lukashenka to voice Ukraine's position during the summit, including his position on the situation in eastern Ukraine. Ukraine will be represented by Ambassador to Belarus Mikhailo Yezhel.
