Belarus has found a way to offset the disadvantage caused by the Russian oil tax maneuver, RBK reports. Our country started re-exporting Russian coal to Ukraine last year. 845 thousand tons of coal were exported in 2018 (5 times more than in 2017), Belstat reports. The supplies to Ukraine have gone up from 0.6 thousand tons to 588.5 thousand tons.
In 2018, Belaus doubled the imports of Russian coal. 1.2 million tons out of 1.6 million tons were imported from Russia.
Belarus has had no success trying to get compensation from Moscow for the Russian oil tax maneuver. The Belarusian budget has lost $3.6 billion since 2015 and may lose up to $10.6 billion dollars by 2025, Alyaksandr Lukashenka said.
Euroradio also reported earlier that Belarus supplies coal from the Donets Basin on the occuppied territories of Eastern Ukraine to Poland. It has been established that out country is only a transit territory in this logistic scheme.
