Alyaksandr Buhvostau thinks Kavalyou and Kanavalau’s trial is a farce

Let us remind you that Dzmitry Kanavalau and Uladzislau Kavalyou are accused of a number of terrorist acts including the Minsk metro blast. The prosecution demands the death penalty for both of them. The sentence will be announced on November 30.

Buhvostau thinks that their guilt does not seem to be proved. In his opinion, there should be no death sentence if there are doubts.

Buhvostau: “The crime is heinous, many people were killed… But it does not seem clear. Looking through the case papers you may doubt that the investigative group worked well… Everyone can doubt. But it is not people’s duty to doubt. It is more like a civil impulse”.

Buhvostau is one of the first civil activists to have commented on Kavalyou and Kanavalau’s trial. No other party and civil leaders have expressed their opinion.
