Art Museum to display pictures on National Bank’s building (photo)
The museum art café will offer potato pancakes and Krambambula.
The National Art Museum lacks room. No wonder – only a few percent of its collections are displayed in its halls. Director Uladzimir Prakaptsou dreams about creating a Museum Area between Lenin-Kirau-Kamsamolskaya-Marx Streets. Moreover, the director thinks that visitors should be able to plunge in the museum atmosphere on approaching the museum. The most popular way is the pedestrian subway (Minskers call it “the pipe”) connecting the GUM and the National Bank. The Art Museum has decided to display paintings on the façade of the National Bank. Uladzimir Prakaptsou demonstrates the computer montage.
Uladzimir Prakaptsou: “We can see the building of the National Bank and its façade in Lenin Street. We would like to create a museum area on approaching the National Museum. The street lamps between the windows of the National Bank are great – they will light the paintings at night”.
Six paintings of artists who lived at the same time have been selected.
Uladzіmіr Prakaptsou: “They are Belarusian painters of the 19th and the beginning of the 20th centuries. They are famous all over the world: Ferdinand Ryshchyts, Byalynіtskі-Bіrulya, Harauski, Hrutski, Zhukovski, Stefanovich. We take pride in them; their names are in our country’s “gold fund”.

Of course, the paintings on the National Bank will not be original – there will be plastic copies of them. They will be covered with anti-vandal tape to protect them from hooligans. Moreover, there are video cameras installed on the building.
