Reports: Sechin asks government for $44.5 billion to help Rosneft
Rosneft and other Russian oil companies have been affected by the U.S. sanctions.
The company CEO Igor Sechin has asked the Russian government to render financial assistance to the company, Vedomosti reports referring to several federal officials.
Rosneft has asked for 1.5 trillion roubles from the national well-being fund. The government may spend the money to buy the company’s bonds.
Sechin explained the necessary of such measures by the U.S. sanctions imposed on Rosneft on July 17.
Rosneft representatives are not commenting in the information.
