Rights defenders organize marathon in support of political prisoners

The volunteer service of the human rights centre Viasna is holding the week of support of political prisoners in Belarus on August 20–25, Belsat reports.

Everyone can visit the office of Viasna (Minsk, Independence Square 78a, 48) to sign postcards that will be sent to political prisoners this week.

Political prisoners’ stories from all over the world will be told on August 22. It will be possible to talk to former Belarusian political prisoners at the event.

There are two people considered to be political prisoners in Belarus now – Zmitser Paliyenka and Mihail Zhamchuzhny.
