Russia blocks Kaliningrad-bound vegetables from Belarus
49 tons of Belarusian vegetables were stopped at the border on suspicion of re-export.
According to the press service of the territorial Rosselkhoznadzor administration, in the course of phytosanitary control at the Chernyshevsky post, experts found a violation of the import requirements regarding the 20 tons of onions from Belarus. It was established that some packages lacked the marks with information about the name of product, country of origin and exporters.
There were also revealed violations in the design of a phytosanitary certificate for the import of 20 tons from Belarus, BelaPAN reports.
Starting from August 7, Russia limited imports of certain goods from countries that had imposed sanctions against it - the United States, the EU member states, Canada, Australia and Norway. The list of sanctions includes beef, pork, fish, fruits, vegetables, poultry, cheese and dairy products, nuts and other products.
Rosselhoznadzor had previously stated that fruits and vegetables from the EU, on which Russia imposed an embargo, got to Russia via Belarus.
