Russia allows transit of Ukrainian goods from Belarus

Russia has allowed the transit of Ukrainian goods via Belarus to Kazakhstan. The document has already been signed by Vladimir Putin and published. The decision was made because the free trade zone between Russia and Ukraine had been cancelled effective from January 1, BBC reports.

Ukrainian goods can now be transported from Belarus to Kazakhstan by trucks and railways. All Ukrainian containers will be indentified and controlled with the help of satellites in Russia. Drivers will get special certificates when they enter Russia.

Ukraine joined the EU free trade zone on January 1, 2016, Euroradio reported. The agreement contradicts the terms of Russia-Ukraine free trade zone, Moscow claimed. As a result, Russia has cancelled the free trade zone and imposed an embargo on the import of Ukrainian goods.
