Russia to resume gas supplies to Ukraine
The negotiations have been conducted in the presence of EU representatives interested in uninterrupted transit of Russian fuel across Ukraine.
Documents worth $4.6 billion were signed, European Commissioner for Energy Günther Oettinger claimed. The averment was reached when Ukraine and the EU discussed the sources of payment for the gas debts and Moscow was guaranteed that Kiev had the money. The absence of such guarantees did not allow the sides to reach an agreement on October 21, BelTA reports.
According to the agreements, Ukraine will start getting Russian gas after a 4-month break in exchange for partial debt repayment. Ukraine will have to pay $1.4 billion for the Russian gas supplied in November and December 2013.
