Russia wins Ice hockey World Championship
The 78th 2014 Ice hockey World Championship ended in Minsk on May 25.
Russia defeated Finland in the final match – 5:2. The goals were scored by Sergey Shirokov, Alexander Ovechkin, Evgeni Malkin, Denis Zaripov, Victor Tohonov (Russia) and Iiro Pakarinen and Olli Palola (Finland).
The Presidents of Belarus, Tajikistan and Russia (Alyaksandr Lukashenka, Emomalii Rahmon and Vladimir Putin) attended the match.
Russia won the title for the fifth time. The Russian hockey team won championships in 1993, 2008, 2009 and 2012.

1. Russia; 2. Finland; 3. Sweden; 4. Czech Republic; 5. Canada; 6. USA; 7. Belarus; 8. France; 9. Slovakia; 10. Switzerland; 11. Latvia; 12. Norway; 13. Denmark; 14. Germany; 15. Italy; 16. Kazakhstan.
Italy and Khazakstan will leave the elite division. Austria and Slovenia will replace them next championship.
