Russian beer to downfall on Belarus
The Belarusian brewers are expecting to face a downfall of a cheap Russian beer.
Effective from March 1, Belarus has abolished all the limitations for the import of beers, brewed in Russia. Over the oast three years, many accompanying documents were to be provided at the Belarusian border.
After the limitations are removed, the Belarusian brewers have announced their concerns over the more stringent competition with the Russian beer in the cheap segment of the beer market. Specialists forecast that they will be faced with unequal conditions due to the higher costs for energy resources and the different level of technology and the quality of raw materials.
Last year, the Belarusians drank around 5.5. million decaliters of foreign-made beer, an average of 11 bottles per capita, reports Interfax.
