Russian hackers steal over 1bn passwords
The American company Hold Security specializing in uncovering online security breaches has shared its findings.
The Russians have managed to steal the biggest password data base in the world. It consists of 1.2 billion logins and passwords and of over 500 million e-mail addresses. The information was received from 420 thousand websites visited by ‘the victims’.
Hold Security did not report the victims’ names referring to nondisclosure agreements and because it does not want to name the companies whose websites are still vulnerable.
The group of hackers consists of a dozen people aged about 20, BBC reports. They personally know one another and their servers are hosted in Russia.
