Savchenko’s lawyer: she is dying in Russian prison
The Ukrainian pilot has been on a hunger strike for 50 days.
The Ukrainian pilot’s lawyer says that Nadezhda Savchenko is slowly dying in Russian prison after 50 days of hunger. Ilya Novokov visited her in prison hospital on February 2. Savchenko is refusing to eat but drinks 2 litres of water a day and allows doctors to make any injections they think necessary.
“To tell you the truth, she is dyeing very slowly,” the lawyer said.
Nadezhda Savchenko was transferred to prison hospital in connection with ‘a rapid loss of weight’ on January 29. The Ukrainian pilot is accused of connection with the death of Russian journalists. She is refuting everything and her defence insists that Savchenko was abducted and delivered to Russia by force. Savchenko was accused of crossing the Russian border illegally later.
