On December 25, a meteorite passed Minsk and fell near the town of Smalyavichy.

The planetarium staff calculated the trajectory and probability field of the falling meteorite fragments. Their total mass was estimated at several kilograms.

"The meteorite fragments probably fell along the line of the villages of Raby Slup (10-50 g), Prysynak (50-150 g), Kalyuga (150-300 g), Chorny Les (300-500 g), Vysokiya Lyady (0.5-1 kg)," the planetarium reported.

The planetarium asked local residents to be on the lookout for unusual stones of various sizes. The meteorite may have a black charred crust with cracks, chips and fragments of brown and rusty-brown colors can also be found. The observatory specified that the meteorite should attract a magnet and be dense, not loose.

The volunteers carried out the first search on January 19. This is of great scientific importance: the meteorite may become the sixth known on the territory of Belarus.
