Selling cigarettes at bus-stops may be forbidden in Belarus
The Belarusian government may take a decision to introduce stricter measures to fight smoking. The Ministry of Healthcare should present its ideas about it by December 1. ERB asked the acting head of the civil healthcare department of the Republican Hygiene, Epidemiology and Civil Healthcare Volha Bartman Centre about the suggestions of the Ministry of healthcare:
“They may forbid selling cigarettes at bus-stops. There will be no-smoking areas. Non-smokers will get material benefits. Advertising tobacco goods may be forbidden”.
However, these are only suggestions and it is not clear what will happen, added Volha Bartman. The current decree (#28) forbids smoking in healthcare, educational and cultural institutions, sports organizations, shops and consumer services.
