September 8 - International Day of Solidarity of Journalists
This holiday has been celebrated since 1958 in accordance with the decision of the International Organization of Journalists.
The day was not chosen accidentally. The Nazis executed Czechoslovak journalists and literary critic Julius Fucik on September 8, 1943. He managed to write his book Notes from the Gallows in prison. The International Peace Prize was awarded to him posthumously in 1950, RIA Novosti reports.
