Statkevich: I trusted Nyaklyayeu most during 2010 election
The ex-political prisoner says he thought Nyaklyayeu was a decent person but did not know about his real role in the Tell the Truth campaign.
Mikalai Statkevich trusted Uladzimir Nyaklyayeu most during the election campaign in 2010, he told Euroradio on August 24. That is why he decided to head for October Square from Nyaklyayeu’s office.
Statkevich: “I had been afraid of a preventive arrest since morning [December 19, 2010]. I announced that I would go to the Square from the railway station. But I decided to go from Nyaklyayeu’s office because I felt that he was decent man. I did not know that he was not in charge of everything in that campaign.”
Nyaklyayeu’s column and Mikola Statkevich were attacked by strangers who used flash-bang grenades on the evening of December 19, 2010. The police have not found the attackers so far.
