Statkevich calls to hold vigil near KGB HQ on Executed Poets’ Night on 29 Oct

More than 130 Belarusian poets, writers, scientists and public figures were shot in the NKVD prison in Minsk on the night of October 30, 1937. Supposedly, their bodies were transported by trucks to Kurapaty, now a memorial site on the outskirts of the Belarusian capital city.

The Executed Poets’ Night was the peak of Stalin’s repressions. Many thousands of Belarusians were killed during the Great Terror.
