Students with knives attack Herson police, 3 wounded
The incident occurred in Ukraine on the evening of January 27.
A few young people stabbed three local policemen, UNIAN reports. Two policemen are in a serious condition now. One of them has a chest penetrating wound and the other has lost his spleen. The third policeman was wounded in the knee and shoulder and received medical assistance without having to go to hospital.
The attackers were detained. They are students of one of Herson universities and “active and radical participants of the protest actions”, the police report. Their actions have been qualified as “attempted murder”. Every one of them is facing up to 15 years in prison or life imprisonment.
Investigators are trying to find out the motive for the crime.
A 27-year-old policeman was shot in the head near a Berkut’s hall of residence in Kiev last week. Some nationalist Ukrainian Residence Army may be to blame for it. The Ukrainian police are checking this information.
