Syarhei Ryzhou detained in Vitsebsk
It happened after he had announced that he was going to run for President.
Syarhei Ryzhou, participant of the presidential election campaign-2010, has been detained and jailed in Vitsebsk.
Ryzhou was detained at Uladzimir Zhyhulau’s (independent journalist) at about 3 p.m. on January 23. The official reason for the detention has not been announced yet. It may be connected with the prosecution of Ryzhou that started a year ago. Ryzhou was accused of hooliganism and disobedience to the police back then. He left for Russia in February 2014 and returned a few days ago.
Syarhei Ryzhou was detained a day after he had announced that he would run for President in 2015.
Ryzhou tried taking part in the presidential election campaign in 2010 but his initiative group did not manage to collect 100 signatures needed for registration. Ryzhou lost his job soon afterwards.
