Thousands of people head for Kiev Maidan from provinces, police stop buses
People are getting mobilized in many Western Ukrainian cities – MPs and ordinary people want to help protesters.
About 100 thousand people may arrive in the capital today. Kiev driving inspectorate stopped nine buses transporting 380 people to Kiev last night. Cherkasy Berkut fighters are heading there, TSN reports. Three buses managed to enter Kiev.
There were many people in Maidan Nezalezhnosti last night. There were about 5-10 thousand people including those who had arrived from the provinces. They were defending the restored barricades but no riot police were noticed in the centre of the city.
About a hundred Afghanistan veterans have gathered on the barricades. They resisted the assault on December 11. The number of veterans who used to fight in hot spots will greatly increase today, their leaders said. They will do everything to help avoid bloodshed.
