Turchinov orders to disband airborne brigade over surrender
Airborne brigade #25 will be disbanded for cowardice and laying down arms, Ukraine's interim president Alexander Turchinov said.
The acting President of Ukraine has given the corresponding orders to the Ministry of Defense and the Ukrainian Prosecutor General's Office, censor.net.ua reports.
Reliable riot police units will replace the brigade, mass media report.
Almost the whole brigade surrendered to militants not far from Sloviansk last week. 22 members of the brigade were detained for leaving their positions without permission by the military procurator's office yesterday.
