UCP leader Anatol Lyabedzka is released
The opposition politician spent 15 days in a detention centre.
Lyabedzka was detained together with UCP activists of the United Civil Party near Kamarouski Market at a picket of solidarity with political prisoners on March 16. The opposition politician was returned guilty of violating the mass actions law and of ‘petty hooliganism’. He spent the local election day and the Freedom Day in jail.
The arrest is the authorities’ reaction to the pre-election tactics of the United Civil Party, Lyabedzka said. “Our tactics showed the absurdity of the UCP actions during the elections,” BelaPAN quotes the politician.
The conditions at the presidential election of 2015 will be even worse for the opposition, Anatol Lyabedzka thinks.
