Ukraine national detained near Belarus border when digging tunnel into Poland

Belarusian border guards on August 12 detained a Ukraine national in Brest, when he was trying to dig a tunnel into Poland. The man was detained some 350 meters off the border. He had documents but was immediately identified. The 60-year-old detainee has been trying to dig a tunnel into Poland for four years.

The Ukrainian is mentally ill. Instead of ending up in police custody, he was admitted to a mental clinic. He will later be handed over to Ukrainian border guards.
