Ukraine urges UN to accept Holodomor as genocide

Ukraine has urged the United Nations Organization to accept the Ukrainian Famine (Holodomor) of 1932-1933 as genocide. The appeal was made by a representative if the Ukrainian department of foreign affairs Pyotr Datsenko. He noted that “this serious step would contribute to the prevention of genocide and any other outrage on humanity in the future”.

The Ukrainian Ministry of Foreign Affaires reminds that the famine caused by the communist authorities in Ukraine in 1932-1933 killed from 7 to 10 million people – 25% of the republic’s population.
