Ukraine's military plane downed near Luhansk, 49 dead (video)
Pro-Russia separatists shoot down a IL-76 Ukrainian military plane on landing approach to the Luhansk airport.
The Ukrainian news agency UNIAN reports quoting sources at Ukraine's defense ministry that the plane was shot down by anti-aicraft fire. It was carrying paratroopers and military equipment as part of troops rotation. All 49 people on board have died.
The airport in Luhansk, controlled by two Airborn brigades of Ukrainian armed forces, has been under siege since June 8. The latest assult on the Ukranian positions by the Luhansk separatists took place at 0500 on June 11. The offensive, however, was repelled by Ukranian paratroopers.
