Ukrainian troops withdrawing from Crimea
The Ukrainian National Security and Defence Council has decided to withdraw troops from Crimea.
The Ukrainian national Security and Defence Council has entrusted the Ministry of Defence with ‘redeployment of troops in Crimea’, acting Ukrainian President and head of the Vekrhovna Rada Alexander Turchinov said. The government will need to evacuate soldiers’ families in case of danger to their life and health.
Kiev has been forced to do it in connection with the recent events in Crimea where Russian special mission units are assaulting Ukrainian military units and capturing officers, UNIAN reports.
The Ukrainian troops have fulfilled their duty in Crimea, Turchinov noted: “They gave us time to prepare the Army for defence and put it in combat readiness.”
