Ukrainians return all captured paratroopers to Russia
Deputy commander of the Russian Air Forces Aleksei Rogozin has announced it.
The release of the paratroopers in Belgorod Oblast became possible thanks to complicated negotiations, RBK quotes him.
The Ukrainian Security Service reported the detention of a group of ten Russian paratroopers in Donetsk Oblast on August 26. They were from the Russian Air Forces division #98 dislocated in Kostroma and Ivanovo. The paratroopers had been sent to Rostov-on-Don a week before, they said during interrogations. The group consisted of 350-400 people. The detained were wearing Russian uniform without any identification marks.
The soldiers crossed the border accidentally, the Russian Ministry of Defence claimed later.
The paratroopers realised that they were in Ukraine only at the moment of the detention, they explained at a press conference in Kiev on August 27.
