United Civil Party nominates Yaraslaw Ramanchuk as presidential contender
The political council of the United Civil Party (UCP) has decided to nominate Yaraslaw Ramanchuk, the prominent economist and party co-chairman as a presidential candidate for the 2011 elections. He launched his campaign on May 31 at Hotel Europe in Minsk, reports Nasha Niva. If Ramanchuk wins, UCP's chairman Anatol Lyabedzka will be appointed the country's prime minister. Lyabedzka stressed that all the other candidates resembled each other just like him. But Ramanchuk, he said, has a new face.
Ramanchuk's election program is titled "Million New Jobs for Belarus". The candidate plans to rely on enterepreneurs and, possibly, foreign investors.
His team includes prominent figures like: Anatol Lyabedzka, Stanislaw Bahdankevich, Leanid Zaika, Alyaksandr Sasnow, Vasil Shlyndzikaw, (former PM) Mikhail Chyhir, Leo Marholin (the head of campaign staff), Vasil Staravoitaw, Zinaida Bandarenka, Syarhei Alfer, Marat Afanasyew, Anatol Paulaw, Viktar Chaichyts, Ihar Shynkaryk, Valiatsina Palevikova.
