U.S. Congress imposes sanctions on Russian officials
The U.S. House of Representatives approves a law on rendering assistance to Ukraine and Russia sanctions.
The bill was approved by 378 congressmen, 34 voted contra, RBK reports. The law guarantees a $1 billion credit to Ukraine.
The Congress approved visa and economic sanctions against Russian officials it blames for ‘the undermining Ukraine’s territorial integrity’. The law also imposes sanctions on people ‘involved in large-scale corruption or responsible for it’.
Assets will be frozen and the mentioned people will be refused U.S. entry visas. The sanctions may affect the people’s business partners and family members, It means that the sanctions will be imposed on a much bigger number of people than the sanctions imposed by the U.S. President.
The U.S. Senate supported the initiatives last week.
