U.S. State Department official to visit Minsk

Bridget Brink, Deputy Assistant Secretary at the State Department's Bureau of European and Eurasian Affairs, will visit Minsk on October 18. She is scheduled to meet with both the Belarusian government officials and representatives of the opposition and civil society, reports BelaPAN quoting the press office of the United States Embassy in Minsk.

This is the first visit of a U.S. State Department delegation to Minsk after the September 11 parliamentary elections. When Brink visited Belarus last May, she said that the United States called on Minsk to improve the situation withb democracy in the country.
