Victoria Azarenka wins Miami tennis tournament
Victoria Azarenka won the tennis tournament in Miami. In the Saturday final, the Belarusian athlete beat Russian Svetlana Kuznetsova (19th place in the rating) - 6-3, 6-2. It was not all easy for Azarenka: she had a problem with first serve, aces were few, she often double faulted. Nevertheless, Victoria played much better than her opponent. She confidently brought the game to victory. The match lasted 78 minutes.
On the way to the final, the Belarusian defeated the Puerto Rican Monica Puig (67) - 6-2, 6-4, polish Magda Linette (110) - 6-3, 6-0, Briton Johanna Konta (23) - 6-4, 6-2 , fourth racket of the world Spaniard Garbine Muguruza - 7-6, 7-6, the third-ranked German woman Angelique Kerber - 6-2, 7-5.
The Belarusian tennis player has won two tournaments in a row -- in Indian Wells and Miami. For 26-year-old Azarenka this trophy was the 20th in her career in singles.
Aliaksandr Lukashenka congratulated Victoria Azarenka on winning the Miami Open.
Azarenka is now in the 8th place in the WTA rankings. However, on Monday she will be back in the top five world tennis players.
