Yanukovich tries to lift EU sanctions in court
Victor Yanukovich, his sons Victor and Alexander and businessman Sergei Kurchenko have gone to the law in the European Court in Luxemburg.
They are complaining about the sanctions imposed on them by the European Union, BBC reports. All the plaintiffs are asking to cancel the decisions made by the Council of the EU on March 5, 2014 – ‘on restrictions aimed against individuals, organizations and agencies in connection with the situation in Ukraine’.
In particular, the plaintiffs think that the Council of the EU did not have enough evidence to justify the sanctions. Yanukovich also complained about being called ‘ex-President’ in the decision of the Council of the EU. It is contrary to the law, he thinks.
