Yury Zhadobin dismissed as defense minister
The president today signed a decree discharging the defense minister of his duties.
The Belarusian leader dismissed Lieutenant-General Yury Zhadobin from the post of Minister of Defense and discharged from military service due to age.
Zhadobin retained the right to wear military uniform and insignia, BelTA reports. The corresponding decree was signed by Alyaksandr Lukashenka on 25 November.
Yury Zhadobin had served as Defense Minister since December 4, 2009. Before that, he served as Deputy Minister of the Interior - the commander of the internal troops (since 1999), head of the Presidential Security Service (September 2003), the Chairman of the KGB (July 2007), Secretary of the Security Council (July 2008) . On November 14 Zhadobin turned 60.
