Zhanna Litvina: Time to hand BAJ over
The BAJ chairperson is ready to resign.
Chairperson of the Belarusian Association of Journalists Zhanna Litvina is ready to resign, she told Radio Liberty. She has been in this position since the creation of the organization. The ‘feeling of own dignity’ is making her do it, Litvina said.
“It is necessary to admit that the age is taking its toll and the energy is depleting in many things. You still have the experience and wisdom but the time when such positions should be handed over to younger people will come one day,” she claimed.
Zhanna Litvina is not planning to leave BAJ altogether, she will be helping the organization. She is planning to create an archive of all closed Belarusian editions that used to be really good in the past. The IX Assembly of the Belarusian Association of Journalists will be held today, on April 24. Over 80 delegates will take part in it and elect new administration. They will also discuss the state of Belarusian journalism and the work strategy for the next 3 years. BAJ will mark its 20th anniversary in September 2015.
