Another heavy earthquake hits Chile: 1 million people evacuated (video)
It has hit the Pacific coast. The epicentre was in the ocean, 40 km away from Iquique.
The magnitude of the third earthquake reached 7.4 (a 6.4 earthquake had hit the coast only an hour before). The jerk was more than 61 km below the ocean surface. No information about damages and possible victims has been presented yet, RIA Novosti reports.
An 8.23 magnitude earthquake hit the north Pacific coats of Chile on Wednesday night. 6 people died and 2 little girls are still missing. There are injured people in Peru. Tsunami waves up to 2 metres high reached the coast near the Chilean city of Iquique. About 1 million people were evacuated in connection with the earthquake and tsunami.
