A picket against Alyaksandr Lukashenka was held in Brussels on November 23, Belgian Belarusians organized the protest despite the fact that the Belarusian President did not attend the Eastern Partnership summit.
They wanted to draw Europeans’ attention to the problems existing in Belarus, participant of the protest Ihar Pinemau told Euroradio.
Pimenau: “The European Union needs to explain to Belarus what the country should do to live in peace with its neighbors, with Europe. We know that the death penalty still exists in Belarus and huge fines are being imposed on people who dare to express their political and religious opinion. Human rights are neglected in Belarus.”
The picket participants reminded Europeans about their responsibility. If Europeans refuel their cars at Lukoil filling stations, they support Russia’s aggression in Ukraine, Pimenau thinks.
The Eastern Partnership summit will open in Brussels on November 24. Foreign Minister Uladzimir Makei will head the Belarusian delegation.
