Brest activists protest against construction of BRSM patriotic centre
Brest social democrats are against the construction of a BRSM patriotic centre. The money made at the recent community work day should be spent on the construction of kindergartens, they believe. They have sent the corresponding appeal to Brest Province Executive Committee.
The 3 billion roubles made during the recent community work day will be spent on the construction of a BRSM patriotic centre at Brest Fortress, head of the executive committee Anatol Lis announced.
The creation of a patriotic centre is not a top priority to spend money on, head of Brest affiliate of the Belarusian Social Democratic Party Ihar Maslouski told Euroradio.
Maslouski: “We are urging to support our initiative and build kindergartens because the city lacks them. We think that it is better to invest in the education of little inhabitants of the city. It would be the best investment on behalf of the authorities and the Belarusian Republican Youth Union. It is time to demonstrate real patriotism and invest in future generations.”
3652 children born between September 1, 2013 and August 31, 2014 will need kindergartens in Brest Maskouski District in 2016/2017 academic year, Maslouski said. However, kindergartens can only accept 600 children of this age.
