Canada power outage: 30 thousand people affected
Early Calgary (Alberta) snow has damaged power lines, ITAR-TASS reports.
The consequences of the heavy snowfall are being liquidated now, the Mayor of Calgary said. It started snowing on Monday and it wouldn’t stop until Wednesday. Hundreds of trees were downed destroying a lot of power lines in the megalopolis.
Dozens of schools and the zoo were closed in Calgary (a city with over a million inhabitants) on Wednesday.
An ice front that came to the south-west of Alberta on Sunday caused the late summer snow, weather forecasters say. The temperature rapidly fell from 23-24 degrees Celsius to zero.
