Cat 4 hurricane Marcia hits Australia (video)
The hurricane has hit the eastern coast of the continent.
The heavy hurricane Marcia hit Australia’s eastern coast on February 20. It damaged houses (some roofs were destroyed) and power lines and uprooted trees. About 33 thousand houses were left without power, RIA Novosti reports. The local authorities are optimistic because they expected more losses.
People have been asked to stay at home and hide in bathrooms and toilets because these rooms ‘are the most protected rooms’.
The hurricane Lem also hit Australia’s northern coast on Friday. However, the territory is sparsely populated and the natural disaster did not do much damage there.
