Dzeviatouski elected as Belarusian athletics federation chief
Vadzim Dzeviatouski was backed by 62 delegates against only 1 absentee (himself) with no one voting against.
Speaking at the congress of Bealrusian Athletics Federation in Minsk today, Vadzimr Dzeviatouski noted that he "will look for sponsors and have actually almost found assistance." He also stressed he has "backing from the president" who "is eager to help."
Vadzim Dzevyatouski won medals at the Olympic Games in Athenes and Beijin. He is a member of parliament. Last summer he was rumored to take over the Belarusian Ice Hockey Federation. However, on September 1, Aliaksandr Lukashenka ordered him to study thoroughly the matters associated with field and track (video).
