Educational system in Belarus in rapid decline

Of course, the authorities do not limit themselves to universities. Recently, Belarusians have witnessed the elimination of private schools. This may be because the "The Fundamentals of Ideology of the Belarusian State" course is not voluntary or compulsory. It also gives a special place to "the role of the president of the Republic of Belarus in the formation of the ideology of the Belarusian state."  

"It's like spreading heresy in the form of sectarian doctrines."

"The authorities' course of education Sovietization is already leaving Belarusians without critical thinking," points out Roza Turarbekova.

"An information vacuum, a bubble, is being created, which is very hard to penetrate. I've seen the textbooks that have been offered. It is ignorance. Are these socioeconomic formations again? From a methodological and scientific point of view, this is like teaching heresy in the form of sectarian teachings".

It would be hilarious if it weren't so terrible because they're going to fool the whole country. Who is going to read this? Economists? Historians? They will compare the institution of the presidency with the monarchic institution and look for parallels, as it is written in the history of Belarusian statehood. This is just a fraud.

"Online education will be of great importance for developing critical thinking. It is necessary to help teenagers and young people, by suggesting educational platforms and courses. Now there are a lot of proposals, including in the Belarusian segment. Now it is all the more necessary for parents to do more with their children at home, and build them into the system of non-formal education, so they do not lose touch with the world.

The worst thing in this story is that the children, the Belarusian society, are trying to isolate themselves from the global trend. This is not just a step backward. It is a U-turn.  

"What about the idea that "Soviet education is the best in the world"?

There is a myth that Soviet education was the best in the world. Maybe it's not such a bad thing to go back to it.
The strength of Soviet education was in the exact and natural sciences because serious resources were allocated to them, and ideology was not needed there. But there was a complete failure in the humanities, which led to the collapse of the USSR," emphasizes Roza Turarbekova.

"Everything that could serve the military-industrial complex was developing very well. And the achievements in the space sphere are proof of that. But the entire socio-humanitarian bloc was constrained by Marxist-Leninist methodology. It was the level of the 19th century, united in one doctrine like religion. There was no sociology or psychology, much less political science. These were all considered "bourgeois" sciences. But there was a Marxist-Leninist political economy. There was a law department that trained people for the penal system. I think it's clear why we have such judges and prosecutors. It's all atavisms of the Soviet system," summarizes Roza Turarbekova.
