EU Ministers to discuss Belarusian election today
The EU Ministers will discuss the presidential election and Alyaksandr Lukashenka’s victory on Monday. He has got 83.49% of the vote and the turnout was 87.2%, the Belarusian CEC announced.
The Belarusian opposition leaders have urged not to recognize the election results.
High Representative of the European Union for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy Federica Mogherini is going to inform the EU Ministers about the Belarusian election. The EU may suspend Belarus sanctions for four months, Reuters reported eralier. The sanctions imposed on a number of persons including Alyaksandr Lukashenka may be suspended from the end of October 2015 until the end of February 2016. However, it will depend on ‘Lukashenka’s actions during the presidential election’.
