Freezing rain makes for blackout in Canada
Almost 500 thousand Canadians have been left without power due to freezing rain and strong wind.
It will take several days to restore the electricity supply in affected areas, the authorities say.
The province of Ontario has been affected most, BBC reports. Over 200 thousand people have been left without power on Toronto, the country’s biggest city. Five people died in road accidents caused by bad weather conditions in Canadian roads.
It has resulted in air travel chaos in Eastern Canada. Thousands of flights have been cancelled in the airports of Ottawa, Toronto, Montreal and Halifax.
