Kremlin chief of staff on Uralkali scandal: You can't blackmail Russia

"Speaking about [this] story… I think everything will turn in Russia's favour. You can't blackmail Russia," Ivanou (in the photo) told Russian mass media.

Uralkali CEO Vladislav Baumgertner was detained after meeting Belarusian PM Mihail Myasnikovich on August 26. The Belarusian Investigation Committee claimed that he had caused damage to Belarus’ national interests. Baumgertner was accused of power abuse. He is facing 10 years of imprisonment and confiscation of property. The Belarusian Potash Company lost $100 million because of him, the Belarusian Investigation Committee claimed.

Baumgertner spent a month in KGB prison and was put under house arrest last week in Minsk. It is possible to deport Vladislav Baumgertner to Russia, Alyaksandr Lukashenka said earlier.
