Ihar Lohvinau: The bookshop check-up is standard procedure
The check-up is not that unexpected, the editor says.
The bookshop Lohvinau was sealed by tax officers on the morning of December 3. It was not that unexpected, founder and publisher of the publishing house Lohvinau told Euroradio.
Lohvinau: “It is a standard procedure. They come to check whether everything is in place. The check-up has started in the morning. However, it has been ordered by the Ministry of Information… It is organized by the Central District tax inspectorate and the Ministry of Taxation. We did not know that it would start like this but we definitely knew that it would happen some day.”
Lohvinau cannot say whether the check-up will be long and when the shop will open again. Usually, such procedures take a few days. The tax inspectorate is referring to President’s decree #510.
This is not the first inconvenience created by the Ministry of Information for Lohvinau. He was deprived of his publishing license for printing the album Belarus Press Photo 2011 last year.
